Teen charged in fatal Labor Day shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A teen has been charged in connection with one of the fatal shootings that happened in Wichita on Labor Day.

A 17-year-old, whose arrest was announced on Sept. 19, was charged on Tuesday with the following:

  • Murder in the first degree in the commission of a felony to wit: Attempted aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated battery
  • Criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon

The state has also filed a motion to prosecute him as an adult.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, police were called to the area of 20th Street and Arkansas Avenue for the report of a shooting. There, officers found two 20-year-old men inside a car with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital, where one of the men, Sebastian Williams, died a short time later…
