Candlelight vigil held by Rochester Latter-day Saints community for victims of Michigan church shooting

BRIGHTON, N.Y. – Dozens of members from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints community in Rochester held a rare candlelight vigil to honor those killed in the recent Michigan church shooting. The attack left four dead and eight injured, prompting local members to unite in mourning.

“Tonight, we felt it important to gather together as a community to mourn together, to unite, to mourn and to think of our friends and people of our faith in Michigan,” said Kelsey Coles, who helped organize the event held at the LDS church in Brighton.

Coles shared that she has attended many candlelight vigils of other faiths during tragedies and found them impactful. “I found it meaningful to gather together, to connect, to reflect, to ponder, and to pray together,” she said…
