NOPD puts search for 2022 murder suspect on ‘Front Burner’

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD’s latest crime initiative is called ‘Front Burner Friday,’ and it included the search for a 2022 murder suspect in its first installment. That search is also the focus of the latest Wheel of Justice report.

According to police, on March 19, 2022, Ciara Bullock was shot and killed by William Powell III in the 3000 block of South Saratoga Street. Police say security camera footage from the area shows the two arguing and Powell opening fire.

Wheel of Justice now hits 485 arrests

Bullock died at the scene. A couple weeks after the shooting, on May 5, police announced Powell as the suspect, but he has yet to be arrested.

The NOPD says it hopes its ‘Front Burner Friday’ news conferences will help keep wanted suspects in the public’s eye. During the first gathering, the department also asked for the public’s help to catch 43-year-old Michael Joseph Hall who is wanted in connection with a murder that happened in August of this year and 41-year-old Muguel Salazar who is the suspect in a June 2025 double homicide investigation.

Nine years later, Seventh Ward murder remains unsolved

In cases when a known suspect remains on the loose, CrimeStoppers usually offers a $1,000 reward that leads to that person’s arrest. If you can help police catch Powell, call CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111. You don’t have to reveal your name or testify in court, and you could be eligible to earn a cash reward…
