16-Year-Old Fatally Shot in Oak Cliff While Playing Around with Guns, Suspect Arrested

DALLAS, TX – A tragic shooting in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas has left a 16-year-old boy dead and a 20-year-old man facing manslaughter charges. The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, September 28, 2025, in the 800 block of Ryan Road, near the intersection of S. Polk Street and W. Kiest Boulevard.

Dallas Police were dispatched at approximately 9:50 p.m. in response to reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a male teen suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel attempted to provide care, but the victim, later identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office as 16-year-old Jerry Castillo-Saravia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting appears to have been accidental. Preliminary reports indicate that three individuals were present at the location at the time of the incident and were reportedly handling firearms. According to statements gathered during the investigation, one of the individuals, 20-year-old Anderson Acabal-Nolasco, had been passed a handgun by another person and believed the weapon’s safety was engaged.
