ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — An indoor sports facility is set to come to westside Albuquerque, the city announced on Tuesday. A total of 12.78 acres are being bought at southwest corner of Coors Blvd and St. Josephs Blvd NW to build the “Ken Sanchez Indoor Sports Facility.”

The development site was purchased for $7,786,437 through an agreement with Red Shamrock, 12 LLC. The agreement also allows the city to buy “improvements constructed on the land, which could include a building that would be Phase 1 of the facility.” Phase 1 would include a room for 8 basketball courts or 16 volleyball courts. It’ll also offer the ability to host other indoor sports, including wrestling, cheer, dance, indoor soccer, and more.
“For too long Albuquerque families, specifically on the westside, have lacked access to quality indoor sports facilities, ” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This complex will give our kids and teens a place to play, grow and connect, right here in their own community.”…
