CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — It will cost more to park your car in two downtown Charleston garages operated by Charleston County starting Wednesday, as new rates take effect.
The fee for parking in the Cumberland (90 Cumberland Street) and King and Queen (85 Queen Street) garages will now be $1 per 20 minutes. The daily maximum rate will be $24, and a $50 fee will be charged for lost tickets.

Higher rates for monthly passes, which provide 24/7 access to Charleston County garages, also take effect Oct. 1. The following new monthly rates will apply:
- King and Queen Garage: $215 per month
- Cumberland Garage: $175 per month
Cardholders who have a debit or credit card on file with the county will have their payments processed at the new rate amount on November 1, according to officials.
