Convenience store chain Casey’s General Store is breaking into the West Michigan market in a deal for eight Grand Rapids-area Kum & Go gas stations.
Casey’s General Stores, an Ankeny, Iowa-based convenience store chain known for its fresh pizza, has purchased a portfolio of Grand Rapids Kum & Go locations from its Maverik parent company. In the coming weeks, the Casey’s chain plans to rebrand the stores, which are located in Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Kentwood, Walker and Grandville and operated under the Kum & Go or Maverik banners.
Michigan Liquor Control Commission records show parent company Casey’s Retail Co. applied to transfer the liquor licenses for the eight Kum & Go locations on Aug. 25. The agency approved seven of the transfers on Sept. 16. The final approval, for a location on Alpine Avenue in Walker, came Sept. 30…
