St. Marks Community Church in Burlington damaged after fire

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington church is damaged after a structure fire on Wednesday, according to the Burlington Fire Department.

Officials say they were called to St. Marks Church on 1230 St. Marks Church Rd. at around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 1. They were told smoke was coming from the church’s vents.

After evacuating the building, firefighters discovered the fire started in the kitchen area of the church’s second floor. The building’s sprinkler head was triggered, extinguishing the fire…
