KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — It has been a year since a man was shot and killed while standing with a group of his friends in Northwest Knoxville. Police are hoping that a tip from the public could help them determine who fired the gun.
On October 1, 2024, Knoxville Police officers responded to the scene of a shooting in the 1900 block of Pascal Drive near Minnesota Avenue around 10:14 p.m. There, they found Carlos Cozart Yarbrough, 41, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Yarbrough was taken to UT Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
FBI doubles reward for tips in trio’s 2018 disappearance from Knoxville
According to the department, Yarbrough was standing with his friends at the location when someone emerged nearby and opened fire into the crowd. A department spokesperson previously told 6 News that the shooting appeared to be targeted, but there was no evidence that Yarbrough was the target of the shooting.
Although detectives have continued to pursue active leads, as of October 1, 2025, no suspects have been arrested or charged in connection to Yarbrough’s death. His case is one of two unsolved murders that happened in Knoxville in 2024…
