Florida man sentenced to over 17 years for leading cocaine trafficking ring in Central New York

A Florida man will spend more than 17 years in federal prison for leading a major drug trafficking conspiracy that funneled cocaine from Puerto Rico to Syracuse and laundered drug proceeds back to the island.

Juan Correa Sr., 49, of Lady Lake, Florida, was sentenced Wednesday to 210 months in prison for conspiring to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine and for money laundering, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.

All four conspirators have now been sentenced. Calcano-Carrasquillo, the individual who mailed the drugs from Puerto Rico, received a 10-year prison term. Juan Correa Jr. was sentenced to seven years, while Ashley Correa received just over seven years.

“This defendant had five prior felony drug convictions and didn’t learn his lesson,” said Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III. “Seventeen years in federal prison should do the trick. We remain committed to ensuring repeat offenders like this defendant, who make money from flooding our community with deadly drugs, get taken off our streets.”…
