There are always hard decisions to be made at music festivals, especially when there are multiple stages, a hot sun and several hills to trek. You’re probably going to have to sacrifice seeing an artist or two for another (or to take a rest and make sure you survive). But this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival has one schedule conflict that is breaking the hearts of festgoers everywhere: Passion Pit or T-Pain?
On both Sundays of ACL Fest, the indie electropop hipster darlings and the party anthem hitmaker will take the stage at exactly the same time: 6:30 p.m. When the schedule dropped, the cries of 30-somethings heading to Zilker Park in their comfortable shoes could be heard ’round the world. What’s a nostalgic millennial to do with this impossible choice?
Passion Pit, the soundtrack of dorm rooms everywhere, produced beeping and booping hits, including 2012’s “Take A Walk” (which was infused with the economic woes of the time). People were pumped to be getting a dose of alternative classics at the festival; dancing to “Sleepyhead” with a full wine carafe in hand is the future your high school self dreamed of while bumping Manners through wired Apple earbuds.
However, Michael Angelakos will perform at the smaller and covered Tito’s Handmade Vodka stage, which has some concerned that he’s doing a more low-key, one-man band type of thing. But hey, Passion Pit’s 2013 set, the last time they were at Zilker Park, looked pretty sick…
