DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — A Des Moines woman has been arrested and charged after leading authorities on a high speed chase along Interstate 80 Wednesday morning.
According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bret Maxwell, the chase was initiated in Waukee by local law enforcement and later taken over by Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputies around mile marker 104 on I-80.

As the chase progressed, DCSO was joined by the Iowa State Patrol. Authorities say speeds during the chase reached between 100 and 115 mph. Chief Deputy Maxwell says Iowa State Patrol officers used stop sticks during the chase. According to Iowa DOT 511 cameras, the chase ended around 10:45 a.m. at mile marker 91 on I-80.
Heather Cole, 49, was taken into custody and transported to the Dallas County Jail. Cole is charged with:
- Improper Overtaking on Right
- Reckless Driving
- Fail to Obey Traffic Control
- Eluding
According to online court records, Cole has an active bench warrant. Cole will make an initial court appearance on Thursday…
