COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Colonie Police Department and the Community Resource Federal Credit Union in Latham are being recognized for saving an elderly man from being scammed out of nearly all of the money in his bank account.

Elanda Thomas, the branch manager of Community Resource Federal Credit Union in Latham said Wednesday, Sept. 24 started like any other day.
“Well, it was a typical, normal day, one of my tellers came into my office and told me that someone was looking for a large withdrawal,” said Thomas.
