Deputies charge 20-year-old with arson in Randolph County

TRINITY, N.C. — A 20-year-old man was arrested in Trinity on Wednesday after deputies say he tried to light another person’s belongings on fire.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Thayer Road in Trinity on Wednesday in reference to a disturbance. After an initial investigation, deputies identified Austyn Chase Covington as a suspect and arrested him on charges of felony first-degree arson and misdemeanor injury to real property.

Covington is currently being held at the Randolph County Detention Center under no bond…
