68,000 New Jersey residents facing threats of a severe coastal flood within 25 years

Coastal New Jersey is facing threats as rising seas will extend the potential reach of a severe coastal flood within 25 years, over areas where more than 2.5 million Americans live today, according to a new Climate Central analysis.

That includes the homes of more than 270,000 New York City residents, as well as large numbers of people in Boston, New York’s Long Island, and coastal New Jersey.

In New Jersey, 68,000 people will be at risk from an annual flood by 2050 if we meet our pledged commitments to reduce heat-trapping pollution, but there is little hope of rechoing those goals…
