A man with an explosive device threatens to blow up victim at Myrtle Beach motel

A man who police say had a makeshift explosive device, as well as a shotgun and pistol, threatened a victim at a Myrtle Beach motel, forcing them inside his vehicle.

Michael Ray Thompson, 48, showed up at the Calypso Inn, 101 Flagg St., on Sept. 27, 2025, and pointed a firearm at the victim, ordering them to get into his vehicle, a Myrtle Beach Police arrest warrant says.

The victim was not allowed to leave the vehicle and Thompson allegedly made verbal threats against him and his property, the warrant said…
