Fort Worth’s Civilian Response Unit Seeks New Recruits to Enhance Community-Police Relations

Fort Worth’s Civilian Response Unit, also known as the CRU, is on the lookout for fresh talent. Established back in 2021, the innovative unit addresses non-emergency calls with a team of unarmed civilians, walking away from the traditional approach of sending armed officers for every distress signal that hits the city’s radar. Their methodology is simpler, safer in many regards, for they’re dispatched only to the scenes without suspects or the looming potential of their immediate return.

As detailed in a recent announcement by the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD), there are nine openings ripe for the taking.
