PORTLAND, Texas — A big project is about to get underway at Sunset Lake in Portland. It’s an effort to rid the park of invasive plants that are consuming the coastal ecosystem. One of them is Tamarix ramosissima or salt cedar.
The city is partnering with the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program for the project set to start next week.
