NEWS BRIEFS: Guerrilla bus benches appear around Spokane

Local nonprofit Spokane Reimagined has been in the news quite a bit in the past few years, and for good reason. In 2023, Spokane pedestrian fatalities hit an all-time high (11 pedestrians and one bicyclist). The nonprofit’s founder, Erik Lowe, has developed a $1 billion tax levy proposal to transform Spokane into a pedestrian- and bike-oriented city and has proposed numerous safe streets resolutions to the Spokane City Council.
