PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following a fatal plane crash near Battle Ground late last month, authorities are releasing the name of the person who died in the incident.

Trout Lake, Washington, resident Kenneth H. Shaffer, 76, was the person who died during the crash on Sept. 26, the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office said. Other details, such as Shaffer’s cause and manner of death, were listed as “pending” amid the ongoing investigation.
The plane crash, which left no survivors, happened near the Goheen Airport, northwest of Battle Ground on the afternoon of last Friday. Clark-Cowlitz Fire responded just after 1 p.m., arrived within minutes, and put out the plane that was on fire.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office later said at least one person died.
According to a preliminary report by the Federal Aviation Administration, the crash happened under known circumstances after the aircraft lost control and crashed into trees, west of the runway, as originally reported by The Columbian. The FAA listed only one person aboard the plane, who died, when it crashed.
