Residents of Dorchester and commuters along Freeport Street witnessed a significant police intervention yesterday, led by the District C-11 (Dorchester) office. The action was part of a targeted enforcement operation aimed at cracking down on the illegal scooter activities that have riled the community and increased safety concerns in Boston.
It was around 10:25 AM when officers set their sights on a rogue scooter, navigating the urban sprawl helmet-less and lacking a registration plate, a stark infraction of Massachusetts road laws. According to police reports, a firearm was discarded onto Dorchester Avenue, the metallic whisper of potential violence snuffed out as detectives later processed this evidence.
Despite his attempts to flee, Lewis was soon in handcuffs, facing a slew of charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Resisting Arrest, and an array of motor vehicle violations. His arraignment is set to take place in Dorchester District Court, where the consequences of an untamed ride might soon come full circle…
