CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is celebrating a milestone rarely seen in education. Lloyd Davis, a drafting teacher at Ardrey Kell High School, is marking 60 years in the classroom.
Across three states and countless classrooms, Davis has helped generations of students earn skills that extend far beyond high school. As a drafting teacher, he shows students how to create technical drawings and blueprints used in fields like architecture, engineering and design.
“We couldn’t have modern society today as it exists, if it were not for someone who knows how to draw the plans,” Davis said. “So that’s been my life these 60 years. That basically is what I’ve taught for all this time.”…
