KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — On Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, visitors to Woodward School in Kalamazoo can attend the first Stuart Historic Homes Tour in over a decade with the Stuart Historic Neighborhood Association.
“We knew it was going to be big, but this has grown way bigger than we expected,” Dave Engerer, board member with the Stuart Historic Neighborhood Association, said. “So far, we have about 800 to 1,000 people attending.”
New owners intend to ‘restore, preserve’ historic Kalamazoo State Theatre
Visiting eight different historic homes through self-guided tours, attendees can explore the Stuart neighborhood beginning at noon on Saturday and Sunday and until 5 p.m.
“People can expect to come into these homes and experience late Victorian architecture,” Engerer said. “Also, some homes that were built after the turn of the century.”
Participants are welcome to take a complimentary shuttle that travels between each of the locations, including one stop at Mountain Home Cemetery where many of the original homeowners are buried…
