ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Staff at The Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center were stunned when a turtle egg began to hatch and revealed not one, but two tiny turtles conjoined at the yolk.
Kayla Short, the center’s social media manager and reptile specialist, was among the first to notice that something wasn’t quite right.
“I saw the turtle taking up so much space and thought, that’s odd. I wondered what was going on in there,” said Short. “Then I realized there were two extra eyes looking back at me and a third front arm poking out of the shell. That’s when I realized we had twins.”…
