Wave of new stores opening in San Francisco mall

A handful of new stores are cropping up at San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria, a notable shift from their former locations downtown as the thriving foodie-centric mall eyes even more openings in the near future.

Popular shoe store DSW just opened Friday, marking a return to the city after shuttering its Union Square outpost back in 2021. Lindsay Kahn, a spokesperson for Brookfield Properties, which owns the shopping center, told SFGATE that eyewear retailer Jins is also opening this Friday after departing Powell Street in 2022. Meanwhile, fast fashion brand H&M is slated to make a comeback to its former Stonestown location at the end of November, which had also been closed since 2022; the clothing store still has another location hanging on at San Francisco Centre.

“We have very few vacant spaces left,” Kahn said in an email, “and our leasing team is in active discussions with potential tenants.”…
