How did the court-ordered reassessment conducted in The First State last year – the first one in decades – end up causing such a spike in property taxes and school taxes for many Delawareans? And, why were there apparent discrepancies between residential and non-residential properties?

A Special Committee gathered Tuesday at Legislative Hall in Dover for the first of four hearings to get some answers, and set the stage for possible legislative proposals.
