In our monthly Table Talk series, we gather food and drink news in one place for your convenience. From restaurant openings to new offerings at local establishments, here’s what we’ve seen in the Corpus Christi food and drink scene this month.
Fifth & Elm Brings New Dining Options to Portland
Set in Portland’s historic Old Town, Fifth & Elm is a new entertainment destination designed for family-friendly gathering. Though you’ll find new boutiques to shop and outdoor spaces to play, the dining options have us particularly excited. The Grove, a full-service restaurant serving scratch-made comfort food with locally sourced ingredients, is paired with The Birdie, an upstairs terrace lounge offering cocktails and views under the stars. The grand opening and ribbon cutting takes place Nov. 14 at 4 p.m., with doors opening immediately after. 614 Houston St, Portland, TX
Streat Corner Kitchen’s Brick and Mortar is Here
Streat Corner Kitchen has officially opened its first brick-and-mortar location—and is bringing a fresh menu along with it. New options include the Vaquero Dog, a bacon-wrapped, all-beef hot dog topped with refried ranch-style beans, chipotle crema, queso fresco and cilantro inside a grilled bolillo roll. The Three-Cheezy Breezy (a grilled cheese you’ll think about long after the last bite) layers melted sharp cheddar, Oaxaca and Salistia cream cheese between two slices of grilled Texas toast.
The loaded corn bowls regulars know and love, a full lineup of sides and even a kids’ menu and sweet treats from Something Baked round out the offerings. Our pro tio would be to order family style and share a bit of everything with the table. The spacious dining area features a mural by Corpus Christi native Isabella Carrasco, framed family photos and mementos that highlight the restaurant’s humble beginnings. Currently operating under soft opening hours, Streat Corner Kitchen is open for dinner service 5-9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with breakfast and lunch service coming soon. 601 N Water St
New Pop-Up Offers Asian Fusion-Inspired Bites
Every Sunday from 5-10 p.m., The Gold Fish hosts Wip Kitchen, a pop-up kitchen serving Asian fusion dishes packed with flavor. Crowd favorites already include the loaded karaage fries: Japanese-style fried chicken over a bed of crispy fries with zing sauce, Kewpie mayo, green onion and a squeeze of lemon. Another standout is the Street Viet-Dog, a 100% beef hot dog topped with pickled vegetables, jalapeño, cilantro, cucumber and Kewpie mayo. Rotating menu items feature banh mi street tacos and a playful take on a Philly cheesesteak, the Philly Mi. Is your mouth watering yet? 724 N Mesquite St
Adelphos Opens Second Location
Adelphos Coffee Roasters opened its truck, permanently situated at 4706 Everhart Rd, in November 2023 and quickly gained a reputation as one of the best cups of joe in town. Now the local roaster has a second home inside The Foundry in downtown Corpus Christi. The sleek coffee bar, outfitted with gold accents and a few bistro tables, offers everything you’d find at the truck: lattes, Americanos, seasonal options and a slow-sipped pour over if you’ve got time to hang. Visible from the ground floor of the building, the current hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-2 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. 418 Peoples St
