It will cost you more to license and shelter a pet in the city of Lincoln. Lincoln Animal Control has announced a $10 increase in pet licensing fees beginning this month. The $10 Capital Humane Society sheltering fee is the result of a new service contract with CHS approved by the City Council August 11.
The licensing fees plus new shelter fee totals are:
- Altered dog: $25 license fee + $10 sheltering fee = $35
- Unaltered dog: $56 license fee + $10 sheltering fee = $66
- Altered cat: $25 license fee + $10 sheltering fee = $35
- Unaltered cat: $42 license fee + $10 sheltering fee = $52
As part of the new service contract, Animal Control has also discontinued license fee discounts for pet owners age 62 and older. Animal Control contracts with CHS for animal shelter services and veterinary care for animals taken to the organization, which averages around 3,000 animals a year…
