LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – With moldy food, a long-time Lubbock favorite lands at the bottom of the list this week. But, there’s also a buffet of good news.
Abuelo’s at 4401 82nd had 34 violations.
- Salsa was above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees.
- Cooked rice and shredded chicken were not at least 135 degrees.
- The inside of the ice machine in the patio area was dirty
- Three pans of refried beans were expired and had visual mold on them.
- Other items were held past their use-by date including, black beans, cooked ground beef and refried beans.
- The soda nozzles were visibly dirty.
- Multiple utensils and food contact surfaces were dirty, including: spoons, plates, a lemon slicer, can opener, and cutting board.
- Cutting boards were damaged and a tub was cracked.
- There was a strainer in the hand sink. Hand sinks are for hand washing only to prevent cross contamination.
- The dishwasher was not sanitizing.
- The waste line under the soda machine was leaking waste water onto the floor.
- There was an accumulation of water in the mop sink. The person in charge was aware of the issue and told the inspector a pipe was broken.
