MILWAUKEE — Dr. Travis Pinter is the Senior Director of Specialized Services for Milwaukee Public Schools and says the need for mental health services has been on the rise for students in the district.
“We’ve really seen an increase for services that we’re delivering really since the pandemic. So we’ve sort of had increased levels coming out of the pandemic and those have not really come down to a degree that we would like to see in terms of need and that is something just from my own research to tell you that this is pretty consistent across the country,” said Dr. Pinter.
Of the district’s Specialized Services department, 450 staff members are social service workers and school psychologists that work throughout the week to talk with students who feel anxiety, stress or other mental health issues that can be addressed…
