Tragic Pedestrian Fatality in St. Bernard Parish as Arabi Man Struck Crossing Construction Zone

A somber incident unfolded in St. Bernard Parish as a pedestrian, identified as 44-year-old Eddie Teal of Arabi, lost his life in a collision with a tractor-trailer and then another vehicle. The fatal event occurred early Tuesday morning, when Teal crossed into an active roadway around 4:00 a.m., reported by Louisiana State Police Troop B. Teal was transferred to a local hospital after sustaining serious injuries where he later succumbed to his wounds.

The details of the crash, according to the preliminary investigation, reveal that Teal crossed a cement barrier from a closed construction lane onto Paris Road just north of Marina Road and entered the path of a southbound 2023 Western Star tractor-trailer, not long after Teal was struck by an additional vehicle that was traveling behind the tractor-trailer, cops say impairment does not appear to have been a factor for the drivers involved as both voluntarily submitted breath samples that indicated no alcohol presence.
