A ‘Point-In-Time’ for Idaho’s homeless population

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Our Path Home released this year’s Point-In-Time (PIT) results, showing a roughly 2% decrease in Ada County’s homelessness compared to last year. PIT is a voluntary survey of people in Ada County experiencing homelessness and where they were staying one night in January. Whether that’s unsheltered on the streets or in an emergency shelter.

Of 772 community members who responded, 543 were staying in an emergency shelter, 103 were in transitional housing, and 126 were unsheltered.

Every community is required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to submit a PIT count. It helps the federal government get a better understanding of the status of homelessness.
