‘I Just Want to See Tacoma Build Its Own Fashion Identity’: The Tacoma Fashion Collective Publicly Launches

A growing cadre of Tacoma-based creatives — otherwise known as the Tacoma Fashion Collective — is hosting its first fashion show on Oct. 3.

The event, which will be hosted at the McGavick Conference Center at Clover Park Technical College, was dreamed up by Reez Duong. Duong, a transplant from the Bay Area, has been in the South Sound city for the past year and has steadily found himself and other creative locals seeking community among fellow fashion-minded people. After attending several events organized by Tacoma Connect — the self-described No. 1 hub for professionals, creatives, and community advocates in the city — and meeting local designers and artists through it, he decided to take the plunge and began organizing a Tacoma-centered fashion show.
