COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -After a natural gas explosion destroyed Pad Thai Noodle last year, the restaurant finally reopened Friday morning. The Singthon family never stopped dreaming about their business even after that explosion lifted the roof off and collapsed the walls of the original building. It took not only insurance money but their savings and selling the family home.

The last year and a half was the most difficult time for the Singthons. Pad Thai Noodle was their main source of income. The owner, Sarinya Singthon, told NEWS10’s Anthony Krolikowski a new air fryer was installed the night before the explosion and it smelled like natural gas inside. A new fryer was on the way but the damage had already been done.
Sarinya said her family’s sacrifices were worth rebuilding their dream restaurant. She had to work at another restaurant while her father and two brothers delivered food. Her mother returned to Thailand to care for their grandmother and have cataract surgery.

Her parents have more than 35 years of restaurant industry experience and Sarinya herself has about 15. All of their family members who worked at the old restaurant are coming back to their jobs, ready to serve classic and new dishes. The Singthons describe the family business as their heart and second home where they can serve authentic Thai food and share culture, tradition and warmth with the community.
