Logistics firm shuts Walker facility after sudden loss of Amazon contract

A logistics company has abruptly ceased operations in Walker, citing “unforeseeable business circumstances” from the loss of a major contract.

North Aurora, Ill.-based CNC Logistics Inc. recently informed the state and the city of Walker that it abruptly closed the facility at 3415 Northridge Dr. NW in late August, costing 75 people their jobs. The location is the site of Amazon’s sorting and delivery facility just off 4 Mile Road east of Fruit Ridge Avenue.

“The closure/layoff is the direct result of unforeseeable business circumstances. Specifically, our principal customer suddenly and unexpectedly informed us on Aug. 27, 2025, that it would be terminating its contract with CNC Logistics effective Aug. 27, 2025, resulting in a substantial and immediate loss of business. As a result, CNC Logistics ceased operations,” CNC Logistics President Timothy Thomas wrote in a filing made under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act…
