Several children, adults injured after jumping from windows of apartment fire on Indy’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple children and adults are injured and displaced after an apartment fire on Indy’s west side early Friday morning.

Around 3:15 a.m. Oct. 3, crews from the Wayne Township Fire Department and other agencies responded to reports of people trapped in a fire in the 5700 block of Port Au Prince Street, near Rockville Road and Lynhurst Drive.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found an apartment engulfed in a heavy fire, with people jumping from the second floor of the building to escape. They found one victim in the front of the building and multiple others in the back…
