Privacy questions stall SPD drone program proposal

CITY OF SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The debate over Syracuse Police using drones as first responders isn’t over just yet. City lawmakers delayed discussion on Thursday, saying they need more time to weigh the concerns from both councilors and the public.

The Common Council was expected to discuss the Syracuse Police Department’s proposed Drone as First Responder program. But after a recent meeting with SPD, lawmakers decided the policy wasn’t ready.
