The Metro section of the Labor Day edition of The Times-Picayune featured an article proclaiming that the City of New Orleans faces a $100 million budget shortfall for 2026.
Given this dire situation, every cost-saving option needs to be considered. One would be the elimination of the mandatory Disadvantaged Business Enterprise requirement in awarding city contracts.
