Utah Weather Alert: Dangerous 55 MPH Wind Gusts Hit Southwest Counties Today

Salt Lake City, UT – Residents in western and southern Utah are being urged to take precautions as hazardous winds are expected to sweep through the region today, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph in some areas. Officials are warning that these strong winds could create dangerous travel conditions and potentially lead to scattered power outages.

Wind Advisory Issued for Multiple Counties

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday for Western Millard and Juab Counties, as well as portions of Southwest Utah, including Delta, Beaver, Little Sahara, Milford, and Cedar City.

Forecasters are predicting sustained south winds between 20 and 30 mph, with stronger gusts expected near Cedar City and Milford. These conditions are particularly concerning for drivers of high-profile vehicles and trailers, as gusts of this magnitude can make controlling vehicles challenging.

“Winds this strong can make driving difficult. Loose outdoor objects may also be blown around, creating additional hazards,” the NWS cautioned.
