A lesson about the dangers of distracted driving

HARTFORD, S.D. (KELO) — Students at West Central Middle School stepped outside the classroom to learn an important lesson this week.

This isn’t your average day in the classroom for students at West Central Middle School. They’re hearing a simulated 911 call reporting a mock crash.

“It is an event that is helping eighth graders understand what distracted driving is, especially when they’re 14 years old and they’re just getting their license for the first time,” FCCLA Advisor Jennifer Poulos said.
