Weather experts issue advisories as Vero Beach prepares for rainy weekend

VERO BEACH — A flood watch, high surf advisory and a coastal flood advisory will remain in effect as showers prepare to sweep through the area over the weekend. Meteorologists said waves off Vero Beach were 1-to-2-feet above normal late Friday.

“The waves will be pretty big. We’re advising people to stay out of the water,” said Melissa Watson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne. “There will be a high risk of rip currents, along with rough conditions. Remain weather aware.”

The flood watch remains in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. The coastal flood advisory will last until 11 p.m. Sunday, and the high surf advisory will remain in effect until 4 a.m. Monday…
