The City of Sacramento is taking strides to tackle the issue of homelessness, as evidenced in its latest report outlining activities from September 22 to 28. Sacramento City Express details the weekly progress of the City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) which responded to 740 calls related to unsheltered individuals via the 311 customer service line.
These calls led to the creation of 2,174 “cases”, a term recently added to the city’s lexicon to better reflect the volume of interactions tied to homelessness concerns. As the city continues its efforts to keep the public informed, the data illustrates the complexity of homelessness as a single call may result in multiple cases being pursued by city services, according to the Sacramento City Express.
Of these cases, 1,701 were closed within the week, signaling either resolution, compliance, or disappearance of the issue upon inspection.
