St. Petersburg Traffic Alert: Eastbound I-175 Exit To 6th Street South Shutting Down Next Week

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Drivers traveling on eastbound I-175 in St. Petersburg should prepare for nightly detours starting this Sunday. The eastbound I-175 exit ramp to 6th Street South will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Sunday, October 5, and running through Thursday, October 9, weather permitting.

The temporary closures are necessary as part of the ongoing I-175 concrete pavement repairs project, which spans from 16th Street South to 4th Street South in Pinellas County. The entire repair project is currently slated for completion in late 2025.

The Detour Route: During the nightly closures, drivers will be directed onto a specific detour route:

  1. Continue east on I-175 past the closed ramp.
  2. Exit the interstate using the 4th Street South exit.
  3. Turn left onto 4th Street South.
  4. Turn left onto 4th Avenue South.
  5. Proceed toward 6th Street South.
