IOWA CITY, Iowa — Hope is on the horizon for patients struggling with depression as a cutting-edge treatment, known as SAINT therapy, is now being offered at the University of Iowa.
SAINT stands for Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy. SAINT is a rapid-acting, relatively new treatment for major depressive disorder and treatment-resistant or treatment-refractory depression. The therapy uses brain scans to identify areas affected by depression and sends precise magnetic pulses to help those areas function better.
