Cyclist sues Austin autonomous vehicle firm after collision with robot

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is suing an Austin autonomous vehicle company for damages after he crashed his bike into one of the company’s robots in 2024.

On September 10, 2024, the man was riding an electric bicycle in east Austin on Berkman Drive when a robot created by Avride, Inc. failed to to yield the right of way at an intersection, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit says that the robot “negligently crossed into the Plaintiff’s path proximately causing a collision,” and that the cyclist sustained serious injuries in the crash…
