Teen charged with murder in fatal shooting of 15-year-old in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a juvenile male in Houston last month. The incident occurred at a gas station on North Braeswood Boulevard, according to the Houston Police Department.

The suspect, Braelin James, age 17, is facing charges in the 337th Criminal District Court for the death of 15-year-old Kenneth Payne. Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division Detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre reported that officers responded to a shooting victim at a hospital on Beechnut Street around 7:50 p.m. on September 19. Witnesses indicated that Payne was involved in a disturbance at the gas station, where two groups engaged in a physical altercation.
