ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It is the end of a legal saga for the New Mexico Corrections Department, more than a decade after mistakenly releasing a man from prison, who eventually murdered an Albuquerque woman. The state is now paying to end a lawsuit over that release, years after claiming it shouldn’t be held responsible.
