The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody a man from South Jordan following an undercover investigation addressing some deeply troubling allegations. Joel T Covington, a nurse employed in the mental health field, was arrested after engaging in explicit online conversations with what he believed was a young child, law enforcement officials reported.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office revealed that their Special Victims Unit Detectives initiated the investigation on September 26th, when Covington reportedly initiated contact, expressing an intent to partake in sexual acts with a fictitious 8-year-old child.
