Man sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for killing a Spokane toddler in 2024

SPOKANE, Wash. — A multi-state case following the death of a toddler back in January of 2024 came to a close on Friday when the man responsible for the child’s death was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison.

According to court records, a Spokane mother found her 3-year-old son dead in his bed after he was alone with her boyfriend, John Jones, during the day while she was out.

Documents show that the medical examiner found that the injuries on the boy’s body were consistent with being in a severe car crash or falling from a 2 to 3-story building. However, documents also show that the car the couple was using didn’t appear to be in any sort of crash…
