KENT, Ohio (WOIO) – Governor Mike DeWine ordered Ohio flags at half staff on Friday after the longtime mayor of Kent died earlier this week.
According to a release from DeWine, flags throughout Kent were ordered at half staff after the death of Mayor Jerry Fiala.
Fiala served Kent for over 30 years between city council and they mayor’s office. He was mayor for for 16 years and made history as Kent’s 46th and 48th mayor, according to his obituary.
